A KIDDERMINSTER karate club is hosting a community event to help raise awareness of knife crime.
Young Gloves Karate, in partnership with West Midlands and West Mercia Police, is staging a knife crime awareness session on Saturday, May 4 at Birchen Coppice School in Kidderminster.
The club has become concerned with the increase in cases of knife crime on the streets, and wants to discuss the issue with families and children.
The event will be hosted by Young Gloves leader Justin Thomas, who has 30 years martial arts experience, before police contribute by addressing what people can do to prevent knife crime.
Justin Thomas said: "I really believe that to tackle the problem of knife crime we need to appeal to our younger generation together working with families and friends.
"If we all support this, we can make a difference to the community and help prevent more tragic incidents that sadly are being reported only too often."
The event will take place from 3pm to 3.30pm.
