A STOURPORT school have opened a new English and maths block as part of a multi-million pound investment.
The new block at Stourport High School is the second stage of development in a £10 million investment intended to support the growing school community in Stourport.
Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier attended an event on Thursday, May 2, to officially open the new building.
The school, which has extended its admission numbers for the second time in two years, opened a state of the art sixth form block in 2017, and the whole school was also refurbished with new heating and windows.
Principal, Lorna Deakin said, “We are proud to open this new teaching block and to continue to improve our facilities.
For a long time students were learning in mobile classrooms that were tired and worn down.
The new classrooms reflect the importance we place on delivering the best opportunities for our students.”
Chris King, CEO for Severn Academies Educational Trust said, “I am delighted that the Trust is able to continue supporting the school in developing a truly first class learning environment for its students and staff.”
There is continued work next to the block with the construction of a two-floor science block set to open in the autumn term, providing eight new science labs for the expanding school.
Lorna Deakin added: “We are looking forward to showing parents the new improvements to school on our transition evening in the summer and for all of our students to be able to take full advantage of our improvements.”
