AN activity centre for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues in Kidderminster has been voted 'Charity of the Year' by a Worcestershire fitness firm.
Droitwich-based Home from Home Fitness put its chosen charity for 2019 to the vote on social media and The Odell Trust came out top.
Personal trainer Kelly Tidbury is busy organising events with clients to raise money for the centre, in Plimsoll Street, which started with a nine-mile walk over the Malvern Hills.
Kelly said: "It was a great walk. We were there raising funds for our Home from Home Fitness charity of the year, The Odell Trust, and after a quick tot up and with more still to come, we have raised £185 so far.
"Our next event is a 5k and 10k run on Saturday, July 20 which I have organised for my running group and their family, friends. The money raised from this will also be donated to The Odell Centre.
"There is also an I Can’t Box in my gym which my PT clients have to donate to every time I hear the words in their sessions.”
Craig Darby, manager of The Odell Centre, said: “We rely on donations and every penny we receive is spent directly on our members to enhance their experience when attending The Odell Centre.
"We are looking forward to supporting Kelly with her upcoming running event, where not only do we have a couple of members of staff and some members volunteering their time to help out but also our office manager will be running the 10k to raise money for us.”
