THE Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section (KODYS) is inviting audiences to step back in time to the 1970s with its latest musical production.
The group will bring Boogie Nights to the Rose Theatre stage for a night of disco classics from Thursday July 4, to Saturday July 6, including a Saturday matinee.
Boogie Nights tells the heart-warming story of Roddy, a Jack-the-lad, whose life of dancing and fun is about to be turned upside down on the night Elvis died.
For five years, on and off, Roddy has been with his girlfriend Debs, while her best friend Trish has been dating ‘nerdy’ garage mechanic Terry.
Their lives revolve around weekends at the local nightclub.
Musical numbers include You Sexy Thing, Y.M.C.A, I Will Survive, Can You Feel the Force, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Celebration, Play that Funky Music and many more 70’s favourites.
KODYS’ last production, Cats, won best youth show at the regional National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards.
Darren Richards, director of Boogie Nights, is hoping to continue the group’s success. “The cast are fantastic, and we’re lucky to have such an incredibly talented young group of people on our doorstep.
He said: “Boogie Nights is a fun show full of classic 70’s hits. We’ve had a great time rehearsing and can’t wait to take the show to the stage.”
Tickets are available from the Rose Theatre box office on 01562 743745 or online at www.rosetheatre.co.uk
