A SCHOOL in Bewdley has won Secondary School of the Year in the Worcestershire Education Awards.
The Bewdley School was nominated by parents for its "focus on progress", hard-working staff, and for going "above and beyond" to encourage students to succeed.
It took home the Secondary School of the Year Award at a black tie gala at the University of Worcester Arena on Thursday night (June 20).
Judges said the Stourport Road school had gone that extra mile to make a difference to the lives of its pupils, with new uniforms, new buildings and a focused ethos helping it to thrive.
Speaking after the awards, headteacher David Hadley-Pryce said: "Looking at the field we were up against, it is really special to win this award and we are truly humbled. Thank you to our parent body for all their support."
The award was one of 12 categories in the 2019 Worcestershire Education Awards, led by our sister paper the Worcester News in partnership with the University of Worcester.
