THIS year has seen exciting changes to the ski slope which has been totally refurbished. It has also been extended and had necessary safety netting installed. The official opening ceremony was performed by Alan Ashfield (GB coach) and Chris Blagden (GB slalom skier).
The dry ski slope has had extensive use since its official opening both by our own students and by students from other schools. There are three sessions per week at lunchtimes, as well as slots within PE lessons to try skiing.
There are also after school opportunities for students from other schools to use the ski slope, for a nominal fee. It is wonderful to see young children from pyramid schools - whizzing down the slope - and even if they never go skiing for real, the confidence, balance and skills they develop on our slope will be very useful to them in all sorts of ways in the future.
A number of staff and students, inspired by Mr Rowan's example and encouragement, have taken a dry ski instructors' certificate so there are now even more instructors to call upon. Miss Hodgetts expressed her gratitude to Mr Rowan, Mr Patterson, Miss Poole, Mr Palin, Chris Best and Liam Fidoe for all their hard work.
Any student who has not yet tried ski-ing and wishes to do so should see the PE board for details.
