A MUSICAL medley will provide the grand finale to eight months of work at a Wyre Forest secondary school.
Staff, parents and students at Wolverley CE Secondary School will hear a performance of original music by the Midlands Fretted Orchestra - MFO - on Thursday.
The concert, to be held in the Sebright Hall, from 7.30pm, marks the culmination of work between pupils, teachers and musicians throughout the year.
The orchestra is made up of different string instruments including, guitars, banjos, mandolins and acoustic basses and is a type of ensemble popular, in the 1920s.
The MFO's more than 20 players will be entertaining audiences with original pieces written by composers from across the world, including internationally-renowned guitarist, Gerald Garcia's Chinese Whispers Suite.
The musicians have also been working with top UK composer Jordan Hunt, of the Royal Academy of Music and have carried out workshops with school students.
Fred Mallinson, Wolverley music teacher and orchestra member said: "The workshops have been great for students developing their skills, being able to talk about their instruments.
"Now, they may gain new ideas from the concert performance and also find out the way the music is composed and how it is put together.
"Students might end up writing their own pieces."
The music will range from the abstract, including a piece entitled Swot, depicting the sound of somebody killing a bumble bee to the more conventional, including a Spanish-inspired number.
