A 39-YEAR-OLD man from Kidderminster has been sent to prison for stealing meat and a padded 'relaxer' chair from Tesco.
Christopher Bateman, of Silver Street, pleaded guilty to five counts of theft when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 15.
Bateman stole an unknown quantity of meat from Tesco in Kidderminster on July 21 and made off with a chair worth £30 on August 7.
In another case at court on Tuesday, Bateman admitted stealing four sets of Sony headphones worth £164.96 from PC World in Kidderminster on October 11.
He also stole a grooming kit, body wash and six Yankee candles to the value of £105.80 from Tesco in Castle Road on October 2.
On August 20, the defendant stole washing detergents and two Yankee candles worth £81 from the same store.
He was prohibited from entering the Stourport Road and Castle Road branches by a criminal behaviour order made in 2017.
Magistrates jailed him for 16 weeks and said the crimes were made more serious by the defendant's record of previous offending.
