UNSEEN police records have revealed some of the shocking details surrounding a Bewdley man's death.

The heartbroken family of father-of-one Andrew Owen, who died after being stabbed multiple times at a house in Cherry Close in September 2017, has shared witness statements, transcripts and crime scene reports from the police investigation into the killing.

Shaun Dewey, who lived at the address, was arrested and charged with the 45-year-old's murder, but hanged himself in his prison cell in April 2018 before he could face trial.

Mr Owen is believed to have met Mr Dewey for the first time at a pub on September 17 - the day he died.

Now, Andrew's mum Barbara Owen has expressed her frustration that the harrowing details of her son's death will never be shared in court.

She said: "We're never going to know the full story. We're never going to get that closure.

"All we wanted was for this to get to trial.

"We weren't allowed to see Andrew when he died because of the extent of his injuries. He was unrecognisable.

"We want this evidence out there. It needs to be heard."

Among the documents obtained by the Owen family are eye witness testimonies from neighbours describing a "frenzied attack" involving two men.

The Shuttle has decided to withhold witness names to protect their identities.

One neighbour, who saw the events from his window, wrote: "As I looked towards this house I could see that there was a male in the living room.

"This male was jumping around the room and I can only describe him as acting like John Cleese in Faulty Towers.

"I could clearly see that this male was hitting something on the floor. I didn’t know what he was hitting at first but I thought it was maybe a dog."

The witness goes on to say: "I continued to watch this male hitting something on the floor and It was at this point that I saw an arm being raised from the floor and I realised it was not a dog being hit, but another person."

Another neighbour described a man kicking something on the ground, before walking to the sink and "washing up".

In a transcript from a 999 call, Mr Dewey's then girlfriend tells the operator: "My boyfriend's been in a fight with somebody downstairs."

She goes on tell them: "They're going to kill each other."

A man in the background, said to be Mr Dewey, is later recorded as saying "have you seen him? Go and have a look" before the caller screams and says "oh my god".

One of the police officers, who attended the home at around midnight, described the "horrifying scene", saying "there was blood all over the floor and splattered up the walls" near to where Mr Owen's body was found.

A post-mortem report recorded the provisional cause of death as "multiple stab and incised wounds" consistent with a "violent third party assault".

An inquest later concluded that Mr Owen was killed unlawfully.

Speaking to The Shuttle, Jade Rouse, homicide case worker for charity Victim Support, said: "It's terrible what this family has gone through. It has really affected Barbara's health.

"The family has had no control and that has been very frustrating for them.

"They haven't been able to get justice and so they haven't been able to get the closure they need. They've been left with a lot of whys and no answers."
