OUR Shuttle Run appeal to help Wyre Forest's homeless has received a whopping £3,000 in donations - and we're only three weeks in!
To celebrate The Shuttle's 150th anniversary, we have teamed up with local homeless charity HELP to raise £10,000 to buy a van to collect and deliver donations to the most vulnerable people in our community.
The generosity of our readers has meant we have reached the £3,000 milestone in less than three weeks - an amazing response - but there's still a long way to go to reach our £10,000 goal.
Shuttle editor, Stephanie Preece, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to have hit the £3,000 mark so early in our appeal – it’s a testament to the generosity and compassion of our readers.
“But we won’t be resting on our laurels or congratulating ourselves too much until we have achieved our £10,000 target – and for that to happen, we really need that generosity to continue!
"So please, keep donating and arranging fundraising events – every last penny is vital to us.”
As well as transporting clothing, food and toiletries for those in need, the van will allow the charity to collect larger donations like furniture and appliances for people being supported into accommodation.
And it's not only rough sleepers the charity supports - HELP's volunteers have been called on this month to feed flood workers in Bewdley and provide food and supplies to people made homeless in the wake of Storm Dennis.
Any money left over from The Shuttle Run campaign will fund HELP's ongoing vital work in the local community.
