A RESIDENT at a Kidderminster retirement home has died after testing positive for coronavirus.
The woman, who lived at Berrington Court retirement living complex in Felix Baxter Drive, passed away in hospital on Sunday, March 29.
She had placed herself into self-isolation eight days earlier after experiencing symptoms and was later diagnosed with Covid-19.
The woman was taken into hospital on Thursday, March 26 but passed away three days later.
The Community Housing Group, which owns Berrington Court, has commended the woman's actions in self-isolating at the earliest opportunity to prevent the spread of the virus, describing her as an "extremely brave lady".
A spokesman said: "Sadly we have to report the death of one of our residents from Berrington Court.
"This extremely brave lady had placed herself into self-isolation eight days ago and was taken into hospital on Thursday, March 26 and we were advised on Sunday, March 29 that she had sadly passed away.
"Her actions and her bravery in going into self-isolation immediately after feeling poorly has helped prevent the spread of the virus to other residents in the scheme.
"Our deepest condolences go to her family. We continue to maintain the government guidelines.”
The Community Housing Group confirmed that Berrington Court residents had been made aware of the woman's death.
