PARENTS can register births in Kidderminster for the first time since the service was closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Four registration sites in Worcestershire have reopened on Wednesday (June 10) for appointment only.

The registration office at Kidderminster Town Hall, Worcester County Hall, Bromsgrove and Redditch are the first to reopen.

The offices are open strictly by appointment only and for no other purpose in order to limit none essential visits.

The two further sites in Malvern and Evesham remain closed as they are situated in libraries.

Appointments to register births can be made using an online booking system on the county council website.

Measures have been put in place across all sites to protect both staff and visitors to the offices. These include staggered appointment times, hand sanitiser available on site and screens.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for communities, said: “Our registrations team have been working really hard to prepare four of our offices for re-opening and to ensure staff and visitors remain safe.

“Visits are to be made by appointment only, and we are asking that customers arrive at their appointment time and not before.”

Access to services can be made via the website worcestershire.gov.uk or by emailing registeroffice@worcestershire.gov.uk.

Birth registrations have been suspended since late March following government lockdown guidelines.
