A BRAND new Costa Coffee drive-thru in Kidderminster is said to be due for completion next year.

A planning application for a new Costa drive-thru coffee shop at the former British Sugar site off Silverwoods Way were approved by Wyre Forest District Council in June.

Costa already has two coffee shops in Kidderminster - at Crossley Retail Park and Weavers Wharf - but this will be the town's first drive-thru branch.

A Costa Coffee spokesman said: “We can confirm that a planning application has been approved for a Costa Coffee drive-thru on Silverwoods Way, Kidderminster.

"We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.”

The new branch will sell Costa's menu of hot and cold drinks as well as food options including paninis.

According to a listing for a series of new industrial units neighbouring the site, the coffee shop is due for completion in 2021.

Plans for the drive-thru include car parking for customers and staff equating to 36 spaces, including one loading space and two disabled spaces.

The development will also include an access road from the existing roundabout on Silverwoods Way.

While Costa is yet to confirm the number of new jobs that will be created at the new Kidderminster site, a typical outlet will provide for 20 full and part-time jobs - usually the equivalent of 11 full-time jobs.

The standard open hours for Costa Coffeedrive-thrus are 5am to 11pm seven days a week.
