POLICE have said a "violent incident" took place BEFORE a truck going the wrong way down a main road hit three men near Stourport.
The injured men, who all suffered leg injuries, were taken to hospital after the incident on the A449 in Crossway Green at 10.45pm on Friday night (December 11).
Police have now clarified there was a violent incident before the truck struck the men and took off, before being abandoned nearby.
A police spokesman said the specifics of the violent incident were being examined as part of a wider investigation into the truck incident.
The spokesman said: "No arrests have been made regarding the incident in Crossway Green, the investigation is still ongoing and we are still appealing for witnesses."
The spokesman provided no update today on the condition of the men, but they all remained in hospital on Monday.
Police had previously said the three men were with a woman and had arrived in the area in a blue Ford.
An unknown silver vehicle was also involved in the incident.
On Saturday, there was a heavy police presence at the scene and officers cordoned off a section of the southbound carriageway, before the turn off for the Travelodge.
Forensic officers could be seen loading items onto a white van, while there were a number of police vehicles, and the road was reduced to one lane to passing traffic.
There was also police activity on the other side of the carriageway, where a vehicle was spotted being loaded onto a trailer.
Neighbours we spoke with were not at home at the time of the hit and run, while the nearby Travelodge and Royal Spice Indian restaurant were closed.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police previously said: “We believe a passing motorist stopped to help at the incident and we are keen to speak to them and any other witnesses."
