A MECHANICAL engineer who owns Midwest Moto in Stourport has called on residents to support his bid to win a motorbike design competition.

Mark Grinnall, a lifelong biking enthusiast, turned his dreams into reality five years ago when he opened the Indian dealership.

Earlier this year motorbike firm Indian launched competition to customise one of their most popular bikes, the Scout, and Mr Grinnall rose to the challenge by designing his own look for the vehicle.

He is now asking members of the public to help show their support by voting for his design.

All his work and ideas comes from his own workshop, with Mr Grinnall adding a Midwest Moto rear subframe, stainless steel exhaust headers, Indian billet rider pegs and customised the rear tail lights, mirror and LED indicators and headlight. Other changes include a Midwest Moto side number plate and stainless steel mufflers.

Mr and Mrs Grinnall say they would "love" to win this competition as recognition for the staff team and to bring a much needed boost to the local economy.

The competition closes on Sunday, May 30 and those who would like to vote for the design can so here.

Before the pandemic hit, Mr Grinnall along with his business partner and wife Sonia, were on track to start building on their investment.

Despite the setbacks caused by the pandemic the business has been able to support its small team of engineers and take on a new sales apprentice.
