A BRAND new nautical-themed pub and restaurant in Stourport is now officially open for all the family.
The Port House, located at the former Ye Olde Crown Inn site on Bridge Street, will be delighting visitors with a menu full of classic dishes, desserts and cocktails.
The new bar, run by West Midlands Brewery Davenports, holds its grand opening today (Friday, July 16).
Davenports have retained the staff of the former pub and created additional jobs.
Originally built at the same time as the bridge in the late 1770’s, it boasts a canal-side setting next to Treasure Island Amusement Park - which was a major draw for Davenports owners.
Despite Stourport being a long way from the sea, owners have aimed to capture the atmosphere of a maritime holiday resort.
The building and garden have been given a bright renovation to accompany the name change. The walls showcase photographs reflecting the history of the Brewery which dates back to 1829.
The restaurant has menus for all ages and features traditional pub dishes such as fish and chips, gourmet British beef burgers, prime farm assured steaks and Lashford sausage and mash, as well as dishes with a twist, such as Bengali prawns, curry Club, Davenports chilli dog and Mediterranean vegetable risotto.
The dessert menu includes a range of cakes, ice creams and pies.
Owner Baron Davenport said: “Whilst each pub is part of the Davenports family, they boast their own personality which reflects the community they serve.
"The Port House seemed a more fitting name for this pub that has been such an important part of life on, and around the canal since the late 1770’s.
"Thought, care and creativity have gone into The Port House to ensure all patrons, whether that be families, friends or work colleagues have a wonderful visit to an ideally located pub.”
