EMERGENCY services were called to a park in Kidderminster after a group of youths started a fire.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew responded to a fire in the open at Springfield Park just before 8pm yesterday (Tuesday, August 17).
A spokesperson said: "The crew discovered a large fire, approximately 15 square metres, consisting of grass and undergrowth.
"The fire was fought using one extended hose reel and an axe, with the area then dampened down.
"There were no casualties and the police also attended."
Wyre Forest Police posted on Facebook: "We received information that a group of youths had gathered to start a fire.
A lorry tyre on fire in dense overgrown woodland near to The Quarry, Wolverley, a recipe for disaster.
"One Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service appliance and one Wyre Forest Police unit were left to deal with this, instead of something more important."
