Madam,
Since the publication of the "killer road" article I have travelled along this road twice as driver and passenger and noted 2 interesting points.
Firstly, the average speed signage is really quite poor with only 5 signs in 3 location on the southbound carriageway and 4 in the same 3 locations on the northbound carriageway. In addition there did not appear to be any signage on the side roads adjoining the dual carriageway or any signage indicating the average speed section had ended.
Maybe improved signage would have reduced the number of speeding offences committed.
Secondly, the article stated that there had been "35 crashes between Chatley Lane and Kings Hawford School in the last 20 years".
If this is correct these crashes occurred in the section between Ombersley and Worcester. Currently this section of the road has fixed cameras in 2 locations with 70 mph speed limits. Surely if this section of the road is really the killer section why weren't the average speed cameras installed there?
