THE Director of Music at a Kidderminster church has retired after more than 45 years of service.
Tim Morris has retired from his position of Director of Music at Saint George's Church following decades of contributing to the musical life of the church.
He joined the choir in 1970 and after a spell as assistant organist, he was appointed Director of Music in 1976.
His appointment saw him succeed Harold Evers, who was organist both of Saint George’s and Kidderminster Town Hall.
Tim also succeeded him at Kidderminster Town Hall where he currently plays in the lunchtime recital series.
Tim's career has seen him conduct and accompany BBC Songs of Praise, and lead the music for Deanery and Diocesan events.
The grandfather-of-five also played a key role in the work of the Royal School of Church Music.
To mark his retirement, church choirs from all over Kidderminster gathered at the church on January 30 to pay tribute to Tim's work.
The 69 year-old has also been made Organist Emeritus, an honorary title to mark his years of dedicated service.
Tim said: “I have derived much pleasure in serving of the church over many years and feel very honoured to be made Organist Emeritus. I hope to be able to continue making music in worship for many years to come."
