These photographs show the loom-shops that operated in the early 20th century in Kidderminster town. The weavers who operated the hand-looms were always male, whereas women worked as spinners or became bobbin-winders in factories. Carpets would be woven in these loom-shops and then transported to the factories.
The Museum of Carpet is currently looking for volunteer hand loom weavers to demonstrate weaving on our Victorian looms for visitors. If you are interested please get in touch via email at enquiries@musemofcarpet.org.uk or phone on 01562 69028.
