POLICE want to trace drivers who were travelling to or from Kidderminster along the A449 just before a fatal road crash happened at Ombersley.

The incident happened on Wednesday March 2 at around 9.30pm when two cars collided near the Ombersley junction of the A449 on the Worcester-bound carriageway.

Tragically, the drivers of both vehicles died at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing but police believe one of the cars, a white Ford Mondeo, was travelling in the wrong direction along the A449 before colliding with an oncoming black Vauxhall Astra.

PC Paul Bosley said: “After reviewing CCTV footage from around the time of the collision we believe there are at least two other cars that were travelling towards Worcester and passed the white Ford Mondeo being driven in the wrong direction. It appears one the drivers may have sounded their horn.

"We are very keen to hear off the drivers or passengers of these two vehicles, as we believe they will have vital information to help with our investigation.

“We are also keen to hear off anyone who may have been travelling on the opposite carriageway towards Kidderminster, or anyone may have any dashcam footage of the white Ford Mondeo being driven along the A449 prior to the collision.

“Our thoughts continue to remain with both families of the victims at this difficult time.”

Anyone with information that could help with the police investigation is urged to call 101 or report it online at https://www.westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ - quoting incident number 588i of March 2 2022.
