ANGRY Hartlebury residents are still waiting for “eyesore” fencing to be removed from a car park one year on.
Parishioners are frustrated with delays in fixing an unstable patio area at the Parish Hall, which has been fenced off.
The new patio, new carpark, play equipment and tennis courts were all part of a project completed in 2018 by the Parish Council.
Following concerns regarding the car park, a survey was carried out, with loose bricks and mortar found on the patio work.
Residents decided to put up a banner with a ‘birthday message’ on the fence to highlight their annoyance this week.
One resident said: "The Heras fencing, erected in March '21, created an eyesore and a hindrance to parking for all the hirers of the Hall.
"The car park was only reopened in May '21 due to the car park being essential for use for the local elections as the Hall was a polling station.
"No progress has been made on repairing the patio wall despite a petition from local people and many requests from hirers disadvantaged by the lack of capacity in the car park and the unsightly optics of the Heras fencing.”
In February this year, Hartlebury Parish Council said a decision on how to progress matters regarding the patio with the Parish Hall Management Committee reached an impasse.
In a statement, they said: "The community project was a joint partnership between the Parish Hall Management Committee and the Parish Council which had a total project cost of £450,000.
"The car park may still be used; however Heras Fencing has been placed at a safe distance around the unstable patio/terrace structure as a barrier to protect car park users.
"To correct all the rectification work, the possible cost to the tax payer could be in the region of thousands of pounds.
"The Parish Council would like to thank everyone for their continued support whilst trying to seek rectification unsupported by the Halls Management Committee and no corrective work to date by the contractor."
