Power looms were mechanical marvels in Kidderminster's carpet industry

These images showcase one of Kidderminster’s most celebrated pieces of machinery, the power loom, throughout the years. From the industrial revolution to the present day, the machinery of the power loom is synonymous with Kidderminster and its main industry. The Museum of Carpet regularly runs demonstrations of its unique powerlooms, heirlooms from Kidderminster carpet factories’ past. Visit the Museum this Easter for demonstrations on both the powerlooms and handlooms, and to hear the accounts and memories shared by the knowledgeable volunteers, many of whom are ex-carpet industry workers.
