WYRE Forest caught the Jubilee fever over the bank holiday weekend, celebrating the Queen’s historic 70-year reign in royal style.
Many street parties were held across the area including Meadow Rise in Bewdley.
Wilden Village Cricket Club officials and the Mayor of Stourport, Tim Berry, were joined on Monday, June 6 by members of the Hereford and Worcester Army Cadet Force.
The force was given a Maple Tree sapling by the Lord Lieutenant's office at the Jubilee Garden party held at Hartlebury Castle on May 30.
The sapling was planted in the grounds of the club to commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The president of the club, Nick Harvey said that it was a great way to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
In Little Witley, the village held four days of celebrations. On Thursday, June 2 around 122 people gathered to process behind a piper from the church lychgate to the Village Hall, where Georgina Britten-Long, deputy lieutenant of the county, lit one of the official beacons.
During the bank holiday weekend, residents were treated to a barbecue evening, a hog roast evening while watching 'The Party at the Palace' on a large screen, tea, cake, children's games, and a street party.
Val and John Gorton, who organised the event were impressed with the turnout and thank Little Witley for “their tremendous support of this historic event”.
Despite the rain, Abberley enjoyed celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with lots of food and fun, including the arrival of 'The Queen' on her pony to open the celebrations.
The celebration also included a series of Tug of Wars for all ages, a 1950s fancy dress competition; six or eight legs fancy dress competition; a dog show and live music.
Care UK’s Brook Court, on Oldnall Road, marked the Queen’s milestone by inviting family members for a special jubilee barbeque and hosted a drawing competition with a local school.
Celebrating in true British style, the team at Brook Court went all out to royally decorate the garden with Union Jack flags, bunting and balloons, and the talented Brook Court choir put on a special performance to mark the occasion.
Residents and families also enjoyed a special jubilee-themed afternoon tea spread, including finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and a classic Victoria sponge, all specially prepared for the occasion by the home’s chef.
Putting their judging hats on as part of a drawing competition with Foley Park Primary Academy, residents reviewed pupils’ portraits of the Queen and named the winners.

"Many residents have fond memories of celebrating the silver, golden and diamond jubilees with their families and communities, and we were keen to ensure the Platinum Jubilee was no exception!"
