A CAR park in Blakedown is now under new ownership after being transferred from Wyre Forest District Council to Churchill and Blakedown Parish Council.
The Avenue long-stay car park in Blakedown became the responsibility of the parish council on Thursday, June 9.
It's part of Wyre Forest District Council's localism initiative, supporting town and parish councils to take ownership of assets or to run services.
The transfer follows the recent handover of two public toilet facilities in Load Street, Bewdley to Bewdley Town Council and Riverside Meadows, Stourport to Stourport Town Council.
Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, Councillor Helen Dyke said: “Thanks to the cooperation of Churchill and Blakedown Parish Council we have been able to secure the long-term future of The Avenue car park.
“We continue to face pressures on our funding, so it is important we work collaboratively to try to make sure the services our residents value are still available.”
