TWO men have been taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident in Kidderminster this afternoon (Tuesday).

The air ambulance was seen landing on a field and armed police were drafted in at around 2.45pm after the incident unfolded in the Horsefair area.

One man was seen injured and in handcuffs at the scene.

Police have put a cordon in place at Emery Court on Baxer Avenue and a spokesperson for West Mercia Police said a heavy police presence, including armed officers and dogs, would remain in the area this afternoon as investigations continue.

The injured men have been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with stab wounds.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said medics were called at 1.44pm to the incident and that an ambulance, two paramedic officers, a critical care paramedic, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.

Police said both men were arrested and they would be questioned when well enough.

Inspector Dave Evans added: “I’d like to thank the public for their patience while we investigate this incident.

“I understand that a heavy police presence can be alarming, but would like to reassure the community that we believe this is an isolated incident with no wider threat.

“Police will remain in the area this afternoon and in to this evening to offer reassurance so please feel free to speak to an officer if you have any concerns.”
