A MAN has been taken into police custody after a stabbing in Kidderminster.

On August 9, at around 1:45 pm police received reports of an incident on Baxter Avenue.

Officers attended and arrested two men, both aged 40 on suspicion of assault.

These are the same men who received stab wounds and were transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The air ambulance was seen landing on a field and armed police were drafted in at around 2.45 pm after the incident unfolded in the Horsefair area.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said one ambulance, two paramedic officers, a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"Crews arrived to find two men who had sustained serious injuries," the spokesperson added.

"They received trauma care on scene before being conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to a major trauma centre for further emergency care."

One man has since been released from hospital and is now in police custody.

The second man remains in hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A cordon which was initially in place at Emery Court on Baxter Avenue has now been removed.

Detective Chief Inspector Gerry Smith said: “Our investigations in to this incident are continuing and so you may notice an increased police presence in the area.

“This is both to assist with the investigation and to offer reassurance to the local community.

“This was an isolated incident between people known to each other and there is no risk to the wider public.”
