A ROAD crash on the busy A449 left rush hour traffic tailing back at Cookley this evening (Tuesday August 30).

Heavy congestion was reported on the Kidderminster Road, by the Island Pool pub, with cars backed up both ways between Castle Road (Cookley) and Caunsall Road (Caunsall).

Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene at around 4.20pm after the three-vehicle crash and four people were treated for minor injuries.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the incident involved one van and two cars and that firefighters made the vehicles safe - using absorbent pads to soak up liquid spillages from the vehicles.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent two ambulances to the scene.

"We treated one woman for injuries not believed to be serious and she was conveyed to hospital for further treatment.

"Three other patients were treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”
