A CONSULTANCY advisor's car crash death was a "tragic accident," an inquest has concluded.

Nicholas Stuart Jackson, from Kidderminster, was fatally injured on March 15 this year in the horror collision.

An inquest heard how Mr Jackson was driving a Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class on the A448 Comberton Road towards Kidderminster around noon.

The car left the road, travelled across a grass verge, and hit a tree head-on.

It was heard that Mr Jackson had no pulse when found by ambulance crews.

Assistant coroner James Puzey said the 54-year-old had no known medical conditions. Mr Jackson tested negative for drugs and alcohol, according to a toxicology report.

Evidence by PC Morris was read out by the coroner, which said the car's speedometer had a reading of "approximately 62 to 63 mph". The road's speed limit is 50 mph.

The damage caused to the Mercedes was "consistent with a high-speed collision," according to PC Morris's statement.

Mr Puzey said the speedometer reading was "not necessarily reliable" when concluding the inquest. He said Mr Jackson was also wearing a seatbelt.

The coroner concluded that Mr Jackson's death was the result of an accident.

He said: "This was a tragic accident rather than being a deliberate act".
