BEWDLEY's Mayor has agreed to give her full support to a Give Way Scheme on one of the town's narrow streets.
Residents, of Welch Gate, have called for the scheme in which traffic going down the street would be required to stop and give way to traffic going up.
The householders believe this would allow for a single line of traffic going through the narrow section of the street making it safer for pedestrians.
During the town council meeting yesterday, Bewdley Mayor, Anne Mace, said: "This solution seems to be an easy and common sense approach. I would like to support this scheme as it goes up to the decision makers."
Conservative town councillor, Stephen Clee, said: "Worcestershire County Council are drawing up a scheme with their professional officers.
"I believe that in the next six months there will be a proposal drawn out for the scheme with consultation."
