A 13-year-old boy described as "vulnerable" by police has been assaulted by three youths in what officers have slammed as a "despicable act".
It happened near the Costcutter store on Walter Nash Road, Kidderminster, at about 11.30am on Sunday.
The victim had a plastic bottle thrown at the back of his head and was punched, suffering red marks to his face and a nose bleed. He was taken to the Minor Injuries Unit at Kidderminster Hospital for treatment.
The offenders are described as three white youths.
PC Ian Bache, of Kidderminster police, said: "This was a particularly despicable act as it involved three youths attacking a vulnerable 13-year-old who could not defend himself and who was left extremely distressed by the assault.
"I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact myself on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111."
