THE winner of this year's Kidderminster Carnival Queen competition could be in line for a trip to the German town of Husum as part of her year of official engagements.
Current queen, 17-year-old Charlotte Berrington, flies out on Thursday to Kidderminster's twin town to take part in its annual Crocus Festival.
She is one of a group of six and it is the fourth successive visit to Husum by a reigning carnival queen.
Carnival chairman, Colin Hill, who is leading the group, said: "We have built up quite a strong relationship with those involved in the Crocus Festival and it's interesting to see how other people's traditions are kept alive and enjoyed.
"We hope that Husum's Crocus Queen will, once again, be able to join us on our carnival day."
A packed itinerary is planned for the carnival delegation, the highlight of which will be the Crocus Festival, and the five-day trip is expected to include a visit to an alternative energy exhibition.
The competition to select the 2008 queen, princess and two rosebuds will take place at Kidderminster Town Hall on Sunday, April 13.
Look out for the entry form in the Shuttle/Times & News, on Thursday, March 20.
