BEWDLEY bridge could be set for a transformation if an offer from a local firm to design lighting for it gets the green light.
The company, which does not yet want to be named, have offered to design and set up the lightning at no cost.
The offer, which also includes technical support during installation and on going maintenance work, will be discussed at the town's council meeting, on March 31, after which full details about the scheme will be released.
If the scheme gets the go-ahead, the lights will be placed underneath the bridge creating a reflection into the river.
Bewdley Mayor, Anne Mace, said: "The firm can't put the lights anywhere but under the bridge because of the flood levels. But I think this will give a better effect.
"It's a listed bridge so we have to get the approval of the conservation officer."
Miss Mace added: "The proposal will be put to the town councillors and then we will start talking to the right people to get it off the ground.
"I'm sure the town council will want to go for it as I think it will be a wonderful thing for Bewdley.
" I have seen some of the schemes the firm has done and they have been done beautifully and sensitively.
"We are so excited by this generous offer which would enhance our wonderful bridge."
