AN urgent warning has gone out to householders after reports of several distraction burglaries in Kidderminster, today.
Bogus water board' officials are reported to have called at homes in the Offmore Road, Hurcott Road and Tennyson Way areas of the town between 12.10pm and 1.15pm.
Details are still coming in of what was stolen, as are descriptions although several victims have described the offender as wearing a stripey jumper.
Kidderminster Police are reminding residents not to allow anyone into their home without carefully checking their identification, and to remember there is no such organisation as the water board.
If people work for a water company it will have a specific name and all this information will be on the caller's identity card.
People should not be afraid to ask callers for identification.
If they are not convinced the caller is genuine they should call and check with the company concerned.
A legitimate caller will not mind waiting outside while their identity is verified.
Police are also investigating a report of men calling at homes in the village of Stone offering to lay slabs this morning.
