A TALENTED young dancer from Stourport who won first place in a competition was "delighted" when she received a trophy, named after her late great-grandmother, as her prize.
Megan Bush, six, of Brindley Street, scooped the Florence Mitchell Memorial Trophy after wowing judges with her ballet technique at Wyre Forest Dance Festival.
The Burlish Park Primary School pupil, who has been dancing for four years, attends Academy Dance in Worcester where she does ballet, tap and modern dancing.
The trophy was donated to the festival by Megan's mother, Katie Bush, when Mrs Mitchell, Megan's great-grandmother, died 12 years ago.
Mrs Bush said: "I used to dance in the same competition.
"My gran loved dancing and paid towards my fees, so we donated the trophy to the Wyre Forest Dance Festival in her name. I never thought anymore of it.
"Megan loves dancing and it's fantastic that she has won the trophy. To win my gran's trophy is the icing on the cake.
"I feel that my gran is watching us and she would be very proud. It's just amazing."
She added: "Megan is absolutely chuffed that she won first prize for her section.
"She's absolutely delighted that she's got a trophy to hold and I have been showing her pictures of my gran."
"My gran always used to support me when I danced.
"The family wanted to let her memory live on in dance which is why the trophy was donated to her local festival."
