PEOPLE will soon be able to get on their bike with a new Wyre Forest cycle route.
Worcestershire County Council enginners is set to start work on a new cycle route from Droitwich to Hartlebury, on Tuesday.
The route will form an important section in the proposed National Cycle Network Route 45, which links the major towns from north to south across the county.
The route currently links Wyre Forest towns to Worcester in the south, through Droitwich with Hampton Lovett Business Park.
On country lanes to Doverdale, it then heads towards Sneads Green and Elmley Lovett and before reaching Hartlebury, it connects with the train station.
Derek Prodger, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for environment, said: "The route is devised to encourage sustainable travel on short commuter journeys to schools and nearby work and also leisure cycling, utilising quiet rural lanes and off-road paths, avoiding busy roads."
The county council's Cycling Strategy includes the provision of a network of cycling facilities to encourage people to consider cycling as an alternative to the car, particularly for short journeys.
The latest work will cost approximately £6,000 to carry out and take up to six days to complete.
