WI - Members met on March 5 and were informed about the Lucy Hingley Lecture which this year is entitled Ouch'. A section of the Worcestershire Way was being walked on March 14 and people were invited to participate. Members were encouraged to get their royal crowns made in preparation for our next meeting when the judging will take place. The winning entry will represent Astley at the Forest Group meeting in April.
Invitations were issued to all singers to join in the celebrations of the Federation's 90th birthday at Worcester Cathedral in November by singing in the choir.
Having lost their first two skittles games, Astley won their match against Abberley WI and the quiz team participated in the first heat of the country quiz.
The speaker was Mr Terry Church who gave a talk entitled 1942 - a vintage year' in which he reminisced about the past and looked at the ways many things have changed. The next meeting will be on Wednesday when Mrs Meg Farmer will be giving a talk on the theme of fostering entitled 101 children'.
