GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND ASSOCIATION - The Kidderminster and district branch AGM will take place on Monday, April 14 at 7.30pm at Brintons Chainwire Club, Zortech Avenue, off Stourport Road, Kidderminster. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

ROYAL MARINES ASSOCIATION - The branch holds its first dance of 2008 at the Harriers Social Club on Saturday, April 5, dancing to Gramme Darby (keyboards and vocals).

SOMERLEYTON WI - At the March meeting president Denise Edwards awarded medals to the quiz team which came second at the recent county quiz competition.

Members visited the Rose Theatre to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. They discussed ideas for celebrating 90 years of WI in Worcestershire, with several members attending the county dinner in Malvern. A celebration dinner for all members will be held in November. Twelve members will be attending the group meeting to be held at Chaddesley.

The main part of the evening was handed over to members and took the form of a show and tell' where they showed off their creative skills with craft items they had made.

These covered the familiar crafts of ceramics, knitting, sewing and painting as well as the more unusual crafts of stained glass making, beadwork and decoupage.

Easter treats were enjoyed by members.

The next meeting is on April 8 at St Cecilia's Church, Hoo Road. New members welcome.

HABBERLEY WI - The county quiz was enjoyable and the team of Brenda Benbow, Shirley Hubbard, Margaret White and Liz Davies were pleased with their total, which was three-and-a-half points behind the winners.

Due to two members of the skittles team being incapacitated, the WI has withdrawn from the competition.

Names were taken for various outings, including the annual outing in June to Spetchley Park.

The AGM was opened and Chris Haynes gave her report. Liz Davies gave the president's report. Mrs Suzanne Owen talked about the workings of the WI. She supervised the election of the committee and Mrs Pam Plant was elected as president.

Competition winners were Mrs Edith Sheldon and Mrs Brenda Benbow.

A quiz brought the meeting to a close.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY - The season concludes with the following meetings.

On Wednesday, a talk on the Historic Kidderminster project will be given by Mr Nigel Gilbert. The AGM will be held on April 9.

Meetings are held at St George's Church Annexe, Radford Avenue, Kidderminster, at 7.30pm.

METHODIST CHURCHES - Residents are welcome to attend Sunday services. Trinity Methodist Church, Churchfields, Kidderminster at 10.30am led by Richard Foot and at 6.30pm, led by Ray Lee. There is an informal lunchtime service at Trinity every Thursday at 12.30pm.

Broadwaters Methodist Church will join with Cookley Methodist Church for a united service. Cookley Methodist Church (worshipping at St. Peter's Church) at 10.30 am, led by Alison Griffin.

ART SOCIETY -The group meets every Thursday at 7.15pm at Trimpley Village Hall.

Tonight, the annual Robin Jennings Trophy will be awarded.

Members' work will be appraised by Dave Tedham. He trained at the Royal Academy Schools, and is a former fine art lecturer at Stourbridge College.

The subject of the month is music as inspiration'. Members will vote for their favourite painting, and the winner will receive the trophy.

MINSTER LADIES - The next meeting will be on Wednesday at 2pm at St George's Annexe, Radford Avenue, Kidderminster.

The speaker will be Mrs D Nex on plain not fancy'. There will also be a bring and buy sale. Visitors and new members welcome.

CYCLING CLUB - There is one ride this Sunday. The A ride starts at 8am and goes to Arthur's Stone near Bredwardine on the Wye. The ride starts from The Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch. The B ride is on a weekend away in Ashdown Forest in Kent.
