KIDDERMINSTER firefighters needed "a lot of foam" to put out a car fire in Hartlebury in the early hours of this morning.

Watch manager Mick Rowlands told Shuttle Online that a passer-by alerted the fire service after spotting a red Metro car ablaze in Stourport Road at 4am.

He said: "The car was on the Queen's highway, blazing away with the owner nowhere to be seen.

"It's a bit unusual really. It could be that the car was stolen and when it wouldn't go anymore the thief or thieves decided to torch it.

"It needed a lot of foam to put it out though because of the petrol still in the tank," watch manager Rowlands added.
