SHEEP were glad to have their winter woollies on over the Easter weekend as visitors wrapped up against the cold.

The unseasonal biting winter wind did nothing to alter farm life at Bodenham Arboretum, near Wolverley, with ewes and cows both giving birth.

Visitors will be able to see spring's newest farmyard arrivals for themselves over the next few weeks, including additions to the arboretum's 50 head of Hereford cattle.

The farm also boasts donkeys, geese, chickens and pigs while for flower fans, the daffodils are still looking good and bluebells are starting to show.

James Binnian, owner and manager, said: "This is the start of our 10th year open to the general public although the family have owned the farm since 1973.

"You can literally stand right next to the cattle and touch them if you want."

He said the weather had affected the number of people visiting over Easter but predicted a growth in trade for the summer.

Mr Binnian added: "We're still relatively new and a lot of people don't know we're here."

There will be a National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens plant fair at the arboretum at Sunday, April 6. For more details, call 01562 852444.
