PEOPLE caught short in Kidderminster will be relieved to hear about a new £175,000 toilet block being built.

Work has already started on the new building on land in Market Street car park in the town centre, which is due to be finished by June.

The block will house three female cubicles, with one cubicle and a urinal for men.

There will also be baby changing facilities and a disabled toilet.

The work marks the third phase in investment by Wyre Forest District Council improving toilet facilities across the district.

Works have included extending the toilets at the Riverside, Stourport, upgrading the block in Brinton Park, Kidderminster and recruitment of extra cleaning staff.

Marcus Hart, Conservative cabinet member for property and operational services, said: "It is very important to provide good quality toilets to meet the needs of local residents, shoppers and of course, visitors.

"We are keen to encourage as many shoppers and businesses to the town centre as possible and good toilets should go some way to doing this."
