A WOMAN burgled a house in Kidderminster after she was put under pressure to repay an £800 drugs debt.

Emma Stoten targeted the property in Clarence Street and stole two purses, £30 cash, a door key and personal papers.

She admitted burglary and two offences of shoplifting at Sainsbury and the Co-op, stealing groceries, clothing and alcohol, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Stoten, 26, of Radford Avenue, Kidderminster, was remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report but Judge Andrew Geddes warned the outcome was likely to be a prison term.

Jason Aris, defending, said Stoten had a long-standing addiction to heroin.

She had been in custody for eight days after a warrant for her arrest was issued. She failed to turn up to court three times.

Mr Aris said she wanted to be kept in jail so that she could battle her drug habit with professional help. She also suffered from severe depression.

Stoten was told that if she did not repay the heroin debt quickly, she could expect "serious injury or worse", he added.

The shops thefts were on September 3 last year and the house raid the following day.
