POLICE have released more details about this morning's collision in Kidderminster in which one person was killed and another two critically injured.
It happened at about 12.15am, at the junction of the A451 Minster Road and Oldington Lane, Kidderminster, and involved a white Ford Transit van and a white Rover 216.
A 23-year-old man from Cookley, near Kidderminster, a front seat passenger in the Rover, sustained injuries which proved fatal. He has not yet been named.
An 18-year-old Kidderminster man, the driver of the Rover, is recovering in the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
A 17-year-old Kidderminster youth, a rear passenger in the Rover, is in a critical condition at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
A 17-year-old Kidderminster girl, a rear passenger in the Rover, is in a critical condition at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
A 19-year-old Kidderminster woman, a rear passenger in the van, is detained in Worcestershire Royal Hospital for observation.
A 23-year-old man, whose address is unknown, a front seat passenger in the van, sustained head and eye injuries and is in Worcestershire Royal Hospital but is expected to be transferred to a Birmingham hospital later for specialist treatment.
A 24-year-old Kidderminster man, the driver of the van, was treated for a minor head injury.
PC Andy Saunders, of the North Worcestershire road policing unit said: "This was a terrible tragedy, which has left one young man dead and two other young people with life-threatening injuries and our thoughts are with all of the victims and their families.
"As with all fatal and life-threatening collisions, there will be a thorough investigation and, as part of the inquiry, we need to speak to any witnesses or anyone who saw either of the vehicles shortly before the collision.
"We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact us on 08457 444888, extension 3143."
