A TEAM of three experts from a leading fine art auction house is coming to Kidderminster in May to hold an Antiques Roadshow- style antiques valuation event for the Back on Track appeal.
Halls, which has offices in Kidderminster and Shrewsbury, has agreed to hold the event at the Swan Centre in Kidderminster on Friday, May 9 from 10am to 3pm.
All the money raised will go to the £25,000 appeal launched by the Shuttle/Times & News to help get two vital Wyre Forest sports clubs back in action following a devastating fire.
An arson attack last December left Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club and Stourport Hockey Club without a clubhouse and needing to replace £25,000 of crucial sporting equipment.
The people of Kidderminster and surrounding area are being urged to support the appeal by taking along their family heirlooms and treasured items to be valued by Halls' experts at the Swan Centre.
A charge of £1.50 for each item valued will be made with all proceeds going to the appeal.
Halls' team will include director Jeremy Lamond, a ceramics, furniture, silver and toys expert, and senior valuer and auctioneer Andrew Beeston, who specialises in British and European furniture, 19th century ceramics, British School oils and watercolours and silver.
Also on hand to give expert advice will be William Lacey, a paintings and books specialist and Christina Trevanion, a jewellery and collectable ceramics specialist.
Mr Lamond said the company was pleased to lend its support to such a worthy cause and urged the people of Wyre Forest to turn out in force to support the event.
"This valuation day is a great opportunity for people to come and show us their family heirlooms, paintings, pottery, silver, toys, jewellery and watches.
"If they have items that are too big to bring along on the day, they can simply show us photographs or we will be happy to arrange home visits after the event at no additional charge."
Amongst the valuable items discovered by Halls in the Kidderminster area in recent years was a rare mug believed to have been inspired by exiled Scots leader Bonnie Prince Charlie which sold for £26,500 at auction.
