DUST off your antiques, paintings, prized heirlooms and other items you wish to have valued by a team of experts and head off to the Swan Centre in Kidderminster on Friday.

A team of experts from a leading fine art auction house is coming to town to hold an Antiques Roadshow-style valuation event for the Back on Track appeal.

Halls, which has offices in Kidderminster and Shrewsbury, has agreed to hold the event at the Swan Centre from 10am to 3pm and are keen to discover valuable antiques.

Previous discoveries by Halls in the Kidderminster area include a 5.22 carat solitaire diamond ring, which sold for £12,500, a rare 19th century Wedgwood majolica matchbox modelled as a fly, which sold for £2,500 and an 18th century oak lowboy, that made £2,400.

Probably the most valuable find in the area was a rare mug believed to have been inspired by exiled Scots leader, Bonnie Prince Charlie, which sold for £23,000 at auction in 2001.

All the money raised from tomorrow's valuation day will go to the £25,000 appeal launched by the Shuttle/Times & News to help get Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club and Stourport Hockey Club "back on track" following a devastating fire.

A charge of £1.50 for each item valued will be made, with all proceeds going to the appeal.

Halls' team of experts will include director Jeremy Lamond, a ceramics and toys expert, senior valuer and auctioneer Andrew Beeston, who specialises in British and European furniture, 19th century, silver and works of arts, William Lacey, paintings and books specialist, and Christina Trevanion, a jewellery and collectable ceramics specialist.

Mr Lamond said: "This valuation day is an ideal opportunity for people to come and show us their family heirlooms, paintings, pottery, silver, toys, jewellery and watches."

He added: "If they have items that are too big to bring along on the day, they can simply show us photographs or we will be happy to arrange home visits, at no additional charge.""
