DARTS players across Wyre Forest have raised more than £250 for the Back on Track appeal in a series of knockout competitions to find opponents for four darting "legends".
A special event on Saturday will pit Wyre Forest's best against darts greats, Eric Bristow, John Lowe, Keith Deller and Cliff Lazarenko.
The price of entry for the competitions leading up to this weekend's event at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre went towards the appeal and all three major district leagues - Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley - took part.
Matt Sheehan, event promoter, added that a shirt signed by all the national Premier League darts players, including Phil "The Power" Taylor and current world champion, John Part, would be raffled on the night to raise extra money for the appeal.
He explained there would also be the chance for a spectator to join in the action with an auction at the start of the night to select the final Wyre Forest competitor to take on the legends.
He said: "People will have a great time. At the end of the day, it is pure entertainment and we are just there for a fun night of darts."
He added: "Now there is also a two for one special offer on some of the tickets on a first come, first served basis."
John Biles, secretary of the Kidderminster league, said that nine Kidderminster pubs and more than 200 players had taken part in the tournaments.
The league raised £210 for the appeal and 18 competitors took part in the area final on Sunday, May 11, at the town's HETA Working Men's Club in Truro Drive.
Mr Biles said: "I'm very pleased with the response. It was great to raise some money for the appeal and the legends night has made it really exciting in the league."
He added: "The players are quite confident they are going to win and if I were a gambling man I would bet on them."
The Stourport league raised £64 through four separate pub tournaments held in the town last Sunday.
Chairman Melvyn Bourne said: "Everyone who played had a good time and it all went smoothly. All the players can't wait for the event."
Paul Walsh, secretary of Marston's Bewdley Darts League, added that three players had been selected for the big night from his area.
The Legends of Darts event starts at 7.30pm at the Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre in Kidderminster. The box office number is 01562 515151.
