KIDDERMINSTER council has reassured that the Christmas tree in Kidderminster is unfinished amid criticism on social media.

The chief executive of Kidderminster Town Council, Lee Jakeman, has told The Shuttle that ‘not everything is finished on the tree’.

Kidderminster residents have taken to social media to criticise the Christmas tree’s decorations saying they ‘look like toilet roll’.

However, Mr Jakeman has reassured that the tree is not ‘dressed to its full potential’ and the team from Kidderminster BID is yet to add the final decorations.

Last year, the town’s Christmas tree was subject to anti-social behaviour so the council have taken the decision to delay fully decorating the tree until the eleventh hour.

Mr Jakeman said: “Over the last few days we have been decorating the town ahead of the Christmas light switch on tomorrow (November 19).

“Not everything is finished yet – the final decorations will be put on at the last minute.

“People can see the entire finished tree at the Christmas light switch tomorrow which I would encourage everyone to come to.”

Visitors to the town centre have said the half-decorated tree looks like ‘a maypole’ and more ‘festive colours’ should have been used.

Kidderminster’s Christmas light switch-on kicks off at 2 pm on Saturday, November 19 with the official light switch on at 5:15 pm.
