A MUM has shared her heartbreak after she lay with her daughter in hospital during her final moments.
Adele Howells, a much-loved Wyre Forest teacher, died from cancer at the age of 44 earlier this month.
She has been described as a “shining light” and had been a key member of staff at Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary Academy for 16 years.
The teacher, who was born in Wombourne and lived in Kingswinford, took leave last month to start treatment but passed away on Wednesday, November 9.
Her mum Wendy Howells, aged 71, said she was by her daughter's side 24/7 when she was admitted to hospital.
The 71-year-old said: "I lay with her at the end.
"I was with her continually ever since she went in hospital.
"Over three days I was with her 24/7 and at the end I lay with her so I was able to be there.
"The hardest thing is letting her go.
"There isn't anybody else on this earth who was so special to me.
"It's so very difficult. Everybody she met just fell in love with her.
"She was just a gentle person".
She added her thanks to those who sent her messages of condolence.
Shelley Reeves-Walters, executive headteacher at Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary Academy, said: “Her calm and nurturing approach helped so many of our students blossom during their time in our school and beyond and our thoughts and sympathies are with her family and friends at this very sad time.
Mokshuda Begum, head of school, added: “We will remember Adele for her warmth and caring nature and she will be in our thoughts and prayers as we reflect upon the outstanding contribution she made to the lives of so many".
A funeral for Adele will be held at Gornal Wood Crematorium on Tuesday, November 29 at 12.20pm.
As Adele was a lover of dogs, the family has asked for any donations to be made to the Dogs Trust charity.
