A PLAN to build new homes at the site of a pub in Chaddesley Corbett has been resubmitted.
The proposal is for a terrace of three bungalows with a detached two-bed bungalow on land at the rear of The Talbot Inn.
The site forms part of the previous beer garden which become underused according to the planning statement. It’s the remaining land from a recently approved plan to refurbish the pub.
The homes would be accessed from the existing side vehicle access to the side of The Talbot Inn, but would be set apart from the retained car park serving the restaurant.
A planning application was previously lodged for four new two-bed bungalows, as well as a three-bed bungalow at the site.
Although the plan was supported by Chaddesley Corbett Parish Council, Worcestershire Highways authority raised safety concerns around access for pedestrians, cyclists and vulnerable road users.
The planning application was subsequently refused by Wyre Forest District Council.
The new planning application was lodged on Tuesday, November 22.
As part of the resubmitted plans, there would be dedicated pedestrian/cycle access from the proposed homes through the car park, which would join the previously agreed pedestrian/cycle route to the side of The Talbot Inn, to “ensure safe pedestrian access to the village centre, as well as improving safety in the car park”.
The planning statement said: “The new proposals have come about through significant work with the WFDC planning department.
“The officers’ comments within the refused application (22/0208/FULL) deemed the principle of residential development on this piece of land as acceptable but needed clarity and amendments to satisfy the concerns raised”.
The new application is available to view on the Wyre Forest District Council planning website and is pending consideration.
