DRAMATIC scenes of a bus on fire in Kidderminster were caught on camera this morning.
Freelance photographer Miriam Balfry, a former Kidderminster Shuttle press photographer, captured images of smoke billowing from a Diamond Bus at Weavers Wharf.
The incident happened just after 10am today (Monday December 5).
Firefighters from Hereford and Worcester were called to the scene and have now put out the fire which took hold in the engine compartment, but the fire service remains at the scene.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called at 10.12 to a large vehicle on fire at Weavers Wharf, Kidderminster.
“A bus engine compartment was well alight and the fire was fought by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet.
“The fire has now been extinguished but damping down is currently taking place with a thermal imaging camera used to check for hot spots.”
It's understood no-one was on the bus at the time as the driver was on a break.
A spokesperson for Diamond Buses said the incident would be fully investigated.
